What You Will Do:
The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring campus safety. The Security Guard will protect campus property and maintain the safety and security of students, staff and visitors.
Patrol and inspect campus building to maintain security.
Enforce University rules and regulations, upholding State and local laws, and protecting property.
Provide critical security support during regular and extended hours.
Ensure visitors and vendors are properly signed in prior to accessing the building.
Responsible for greeting the public and fielding basic facilities questions, act as liaison to information desk personnel.
Monitor security cameras that are within the facility.
Conduct general patrols of the entire property during various hours, if required, including numerous flights of stairs and frequent patrols of the exterior in any weather conditions.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
minimum of 1 year of prior employment as a security guard or directly related experience.
Class D Security License or prior military or law enforcement experience preferred.
Interpersonal Communication: Communicates effectively and appropriately. Uses good judgement as to what to communicate to whom as well as the best way to get that accomplished. Speaks in a clear and credible manner, selecting the right tone for the situation and audience. Listens to others and allows them to make their point.
Ability to Learn New Skills/Learning/Growth Ability: Tends to learn new skills quickly on his/her own AND apply them both quickly and effectively to work situations.
Sensitivity/Compassion: Shows genuine sensitivity to the needs, feelings and capabilities of other people. Deals with others in a pleasant manner. Treats others with respect and consideration.

The wage range of the grade for this position is $17.00 to $22.57 per hour (typical workweek for this part-time position is 15-20 hours). Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
