Part-Time Security Guard - Tampa Campus

What You Will Do:

The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring campus safety.  The Security Guard will protect campus property and maintain the safety and security of students, staff and visitors.

• Patrol and inspect campus building to maintain security.

• Enforce University rules and regulations, upholding State and local laws, and protecting property.

• Provide critical security support during regular and extended hours.

• Ensure visitors and vendors are properly signed in prior to accessing the building.

• Responsible for greeting the public and fielding basic facilities questions, act as liaison to information desk personnel.

• Monitor security cameras that are within the facility.

• Conduct general patrols of the entire property during various hours, if required, including numerous flights of stairs and frequent patrols of the exterior in any weather conditions.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• minimum of 1 year of prior employment as a security guard or directly related experience.

• Class D Security License or prior military or law enforcement experience preferred.

• Interpersonal Communication: Communicates effectively and appropriately. Uses good judgement as to what to communicate to whom as well as the best way to get that accomplished. Speaks in a clear and credible manner, selecting the right tone for the situation and audience. Listens to others and allows them to make their point.

• Ability to Learn New Skills/Learning/Growth Ability: Tends to learn new skills quickly on his/her own AND apply them both quickly and effectively to work situations.

• Sensitivity/Compassion: Shows genuine sensitivity to the needs, feelings and capabilities of other people. Deals with others in a pleasant manner. Treats others with respect and consideration.

The wage range of the grade for this position is $17.00 to $22.57 per hour (typical workweek for this part-time position is 15-20 hours).  Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.  Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
