Overview

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

This full-time 10-month faculty member will have a teaching and service workload spread across three academic terms spanning Fall, Winter and Spring. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Nursing, Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing will implement the pedagogical strategies developed to support a concept-competency based curricular framework while critically appraising the designed curriculum for necessary quality improvement. Rank will be determined based on credentials and experience.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Teach in undergraduate BSN program as appropriate to clinical/experiential and educational expertise as identified by program need.
  • Employ a variety of teaching/learning strategies in the classroom to provide engaged, active learning instruction.
  • Implement the curriculum as designed.
  • Engage in service activities consistent with the mission and strategic vision of the School of Nursing, the university and the profession.
  • Engage in curriculum oversight through assigned course management activities.
  • Engage in on-going professional development.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and student-centered approaches.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience
  • Minimum 1 year teaching experience
  • Current unencumbered RN license in Illinois or the ability to gain unencumbered licensure in Illinois
  • Evidence of professional development in the field of concentration preferred

Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.  Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, current/previous faculty rank, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
