What You Will Do:

The University Catalog Support Specialist is responsible for providing direct support and supervision to the graduate Transfer Articulation Analyst team and Licensure Officer; this position ensures that the team has the training and tools to accurately and efficiently complete endorsement evaluations and entitle candidates for state licensure. The University Catalog Support Specialist also plays leadership role in collaborating with the Advising and Enrollment teams by providing knowledge of the NLU endorsements, course content requirements, policies, licensure requirements and ISBE rules. In addition, the Manager supports the NCE faculty by providing necessary student information and data for various accreditation reports. Lastly, the University Catalog Support Specialist also supports the Associate Registrar by processing all incoming course proposals in the Banner system, processing course deactivations and working with other course related projects. The University Catalog Support Specialist also assists with the catalog publications and projects related to the curriculum management.

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Provides direct supervision to the team of Transfer Articulation Analysts and Licensure Officer. Oversees teacher credentials evaluation and supports the team by providing expertise in course content used for endorsements and licensure programs. Understands all graduate teacher preparation and subsequent teaching program admission requirements, resolves problems and acts as a resource to other departments regarding all transfer and curriculum related issues; communicates the University's transfer policies and procedures to enrollment specialists, academic advisors and transfer counselors from other institutions.
  • Processes all New and Revised Course Data Collection proposals in the Banner course catalog that have been approved through the Watermark Curriculum Management. Informs the Scheduling Center and Advising of any course changes and needed adjustments to the schedule. Maintains the Banner course catalog by processing all course inactivation based on the program teach-out plans and provides the NLU Colleges with the course reports for courses that are coming up for a 5-year review. Works on other course cleanup projects related to course equivalencies and course pre-requisites/co-requisites.
  • Assists the Associate Registrar with projects related to the Catalog and Curriculum Management Systems. Assists with catalog publication processes and completes minor catalog updates related to policies and other non-curricular changes as well as proofreads prepared for publication program pages.
  • Supports the Senior Transfer Articulation Analyst in developing and improving the lists of NLU acceptable coursework for teacher preparation assessments; reviews transfer coursework from other institutions and determines its transferability and applicability to specific M.A.T. program pre-requisites.
  • Works with the NCE Associate Dean and faculty in relation to the endorsement coursework approvals. Supports the NCE faculty by providing student information and necessary data for various M.A.T. programs for accreditation reports.
  • Assists the TAAs in evaluating candidates’ endorsement coursework and Licensure Officer in entitlement during peak times as needed.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred in Higher Education or related field.
  • 3-5 years of directly related experience in higher education preferably in the Registrar’s Office area.
  • 1-3 years of progressive experience in transfer credit articulation preferred.
  • Exceptional organization, written and oral communication skills, ability to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail, a motivated/enthusiastic work style, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of internal and external constituents
  • Preferred experience with Banner Student Information System module, Degree Works - student degree audit system, Salesforce software platform, and catalog and curriculum management system.
  • Functional Skills: Job Skills/Job-Specific Knowledge - Possesses sufficient job skills and knowledge to perform the job in a competent manner. Is able to demonstrate skills and knowledge in day-to-day situations.

Application of New Skills - Makes it a point to put new skills and knowledge to use on the job in a timely and effective manner. Applies new skills on the job before forgetting what was learned, and ensures that these skills are used to create a positive impact on a day-to-day basis
