What You Will Do:

 

This position will be responsible for executing the Enrollment and Outreach strategic plan to meet and exceed new student enrollment goals as they relate to engaging and enrolling current and former members of the military. As such, primary job functions for this position include: 1) building relationships with regional military base Education Services Officers to explore recruitment and outreach opportunities for military personnel and their dependents 2) participating and conducting local and regional recruitment events and 3) working with students to ensure they successfully move through the enrollment process.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding program and the enrollment process and is able to communicate, both orally and in written form, NLU’s admission requirements, program offerings, basic financial aid requirements, and scholarship opportunities with any prospective students as well as stakeholders.
  • Contacts prospective students and determines their educational need. Assess and promptly responds to the needs and concerns of prospective students, via email, social media, phone and in person including assisting with any questions about the students options and paperwork. Monitor systems tasks list to ensure all inquiries and tasks are completed in a timely manner. Meet or exceed high contact strategy plan.
  • Recruit active military, veteran, and dependent students for the University’s undergraduate and graduate programs; develop, update, and maintain outside recruitment contacts.
    Prepares reports of activities and tracking of prospects' and suspects' inquiries, applications, and student outcomes up to and including enrollment.
  • Builds relationships and act as the primary point of contact for partners to build knowledge of NLU community and generate inquiries. Actively pursues new military based partnerships for NLU through outreach and networking activities.
  • Develops and maintains a network of relationships that will serve to increase military personnel enrollment, such as alumni, current students, the military community, veterans, and dependent student of military personnel. Actively plans, attends and documents attendance at information sessions, military and community events.
  • Provides feedback and recommendations to management regarding recruiting strategies, customer service, communication, and recruitment programs.
  • Collaborate with Illinois Military Enrollment and Outreach Specialist on national campaigns and activities.
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of military educational benefits including any updates and changes as they may occur

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with students in an educational setting and/or experience in a sales environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Experience with using student information systems, preferred.
  • Knowledge of social media tools such as Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Strong understanding of military educational benefits
    Experience working with the military or military student (preferably in a higher education setting), preferred
  • Military experience strongly preferred
