Overview

We are proactively recruiting at this time for openings expected in the future. The new Nursing Programs at National Louis University seeks qualified professionals for adjunct teaching positions and Subject Matter Experts for our nursing courses.


 


Subject Matter Expert
You will initially work with the Executive Director of Nursing and the Learning Experience Design (LXD) team to design and build course masters for new courses in the BSN Nursing Program.  As the Subject Matter Expert (SME), you possess current and evolving knowledge in the content area; understanding of ways nurses solve problems and apply nursing skills and knowledge to the professional practice setting. You will collaborate with others to design experiences that motivate learners to be active participants in their learning, apply evidence-based practices to improve learner outcomes, and employ technology to increase learner achievement and engagement. Responsible for submitting all deliverables in a timely manner, attending all meetings, and reviewing the course master for content accuracy. Once the course is built, you could potentially teach the course.


 


Adjunct Faculty


You would be responsible for the implementation of the curriculum in either the classroom (face to face or online) or the clinical/laboratory setting.  As an Adjunct Faculty you possess current and evolving knowledge in the content along with relative clinical practice experience. You will teach the students, provide the course/clinical assessments and evaluations and facilitate student centered learning.

Essential Responsibilities

Subject Matter Expert



  • Build the assigned nursing course as outlined in the SME guidelines

  • Utilize the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) new Essentials of Baccalaureate Education to guide you in writing appropriate competency based module outcomes mapped to the course outcomes and mapped to the program outcomes.

  • Potentially teach the course


Adjunct Faculty



  • Teach assigned course based on approved syllabus and developed course

  • Implement evaluation methods as outlined in the approved syllabus

  • Collaborate with nursing program administration to implement other assignments and/or evaluations based on professional experiences

  • Attend workshops if applicable to course being taught

  • Attend adjunct orientation before the start of each semester

  • Adhere to Department of Nursing policies and procedures as outlined in the nursing student and faculty handbooks.

  • Participate in end of course program reports and evaluations

  • Attend required clinical agency orientation, if applicable

  • Supervise and maintain laboratories and equipment if teaching in the simulation/skills lab

  • Evaluate student learning in a clinical setting using the approved and provided standard evaluation tool

Qualifications

Subject Matter Expert (Required):



  • Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing

  • Unencumbered Illinois License or the ability to get an Illinois License

  • Content area expertise

  • 3 or more years of experience teaching undergraduate nursing students in the assigned subject matter

  • Experience leading curriculum development activities and mapping for accreditation

  • Experience working with designing course content and learning experiences within a course management system

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


Preferred:



  • Understanding and experience with both concept based and competency based nursing education

  • Experience with D2L learning management system


Adjunct Faculty (Required):



  • Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing

  • Unencumbered Illinois License or the ability to get an Illinois License

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an RN in a related clinical area

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


Preferred:



  • 1-3 years of experience teaching undergraduate nursing students in either theory or clinical


 


We are currently seeking SMEs for Pathophysiology and Foundations of Nursing Practice, which includes both Fundamentals and Health Assessment content.
